Education and Outreach Programs
Department outreach personnel are available to visit your classroom, club, or meeting to present
a variety of wildlife-related topics. Contact personnel listed at the bottom of the page to
schedule a presentation.
Education and outreach programs and fall into three major categories:
Formal/Informal Instruction

Becoming an Outdoors-Woman
- For women interested in learning about outdoor skills such as hunting and fishing.
- Boating & Water Safety Education
- Learn rules of the road and safe operation on the water.
- Conservation and Outdoor Skills Park
(State Fair, Minot)
- Open to visitors to the state fair.
- Fur Harvester Education
- Volunteers teach a comprehensive fur harvesting course.
- Hooked on Fishing
- Volunteers teach youngsters how to fish.
- Hunter Education
- Learn about gun safety, survival, wildlife, and hunting ethics.
- K-12 Educators
- Conservation education materials for teachers.
- National Archery in the Schools Program
- A two-week physical education course for grades 4-12.

- Each year Game and Fish co-sponsors this camp for boys and girls ages 12-16, featuring learning
opportunities in science, conservation and outdoors skills.
- Theodore Roosevelt Award for 4-H and Scouting
(workbook)
- 4-H’ers, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts can earn the Theodore Roosevelt Award for development
of a healthy mind and body, good citizenship, and a strong conservation ethic.
Volunteer
- Volunteer Projects for persons interested in
teaching our instructional courses or helping with conservation projects.
